Comrade Oshiomhole Must Walk His Talk On Erring APC Members in Kwara -KCI
A group known as Kwara Change Initiative (KCI) has called upon the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomhole to live up to the expectation of his teeming followers and admirers by being a man of little words but more of action.
The group made the assertion in Ilorin on Monday after assessing the political developments in Kwara State and when it expressed surprise with "the manner the APC leadership has been looking away on pure issues bordering on discipline and loyalty to the party ", which the group thought as unhealthy for political party system and deepening of Nigeria's fledging democracy.
The group Organising Secretary, Olayemi Mohammed argued that political parties have a great role to play as Nigeria march to consolidate its democracy and respect for democratic tenets in absolute recourse to the Nigerian constitution.
"The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomhole is bringing with him a credential that presents him as a man ready for the job. He will need to convince Nigerians that he is ready to match words with action. As the man presiding over a ruling party, his stance on discipline will go a long way to whip erring members to line.
"Comrade Oshiomhole must have been told that, Alhaji Kawu Baraje a member of his party about a fortnight ago attended a meeting of coalition of political parties, there and then he announced his return to PDP, and up till the last weekend he mentioned to the media that he has left APC.
"The APC chairman must have watched the video that went viral where Alhaji Isiaka Oniwa, a senatorial chairman of your party in Kwara State announced the funeral of your party and called out a large crowd to mourn the party in Kwara State. This was done after the three Senatorial chairmen of your party in the state requested their leader, Senator Bukola Saraki, to "kindly evacuate them from your sinking party", and the trio have traversed Kwara informing members that they have left APC.
"The National Chairman must have read the press release issued by a member of the National Working Committee of his party, who dropped the creation of rAPC at the threshold of Dr. Bukola Saraki. He equally requested Dr. Saraki to decide who he will follow because he can't "serve God and Mamon at the same time".
"With this plethora of sins hanging on Dr. Bukola Saraki and his followers, the National Chairman must check Article 21of his party Constitution to refresh himself of what constitutes an offence in their midst and the prescribed discipline."
Mohammed further stated that, it is when the Comrade Chairman has sufficiently dealt with those individuals that have flagrantly and openly disobeyed the party that he can descend on the Minister of Labour, Dr. Chris Ngige.
He insisted that there are more issues with direct bearing on the position of his party on party discipline and supremacy than that of the labour minister which are deliberately carried out to demarket the party.
