Zidane, Guardiola, Deschamps, Klopp Battle For 2018 FIFA Best Coach Award
Didier Deschamps, Zinedine Zidane, Dalic and eight others have been nominated by FIFA for the prestigious coach of the year award.
Other coaches listed for the award are Massimiliano Allegri, Stanislav, Cherchesov, Zlatko Dalic, Pep Guardiola, Roberto Martinez, Diego Simeone, Gareth Southgate and Ernesto Valverde.
The coaches are nominated based on their performance for the period from 3rd July 2017 to 15 July 2018 according to a statement from FIFA.
Barcelona coach, Valverde was nominated for his exploits winning the Spanish La Liga title and the Copa del Rey with the Catalan giants while Zidane on his part guided Real Madrid to their third consecutive UEFA Champions League title this season and the FIFA World Club Cup title.
Dalic helped Croatia reach the final of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in their fifth appearance.
Gareth Southgate also got nominated for the award flatter leading England to a fourth place finish at the 2018 FIFA World Cup – their best finish since 1990, while Belgium coach, Roberto Martinez also earned hid nomination for helping Belgium secure a third place finish at the same tournament.
Diego Simeone also got a nomination for leading Atletico Madrid to the UEFA Europa League title.
Meanwhile, the nominees for the Best FIFA Women’s Coach for 2018 include Emma Hayes, Stephan Lerch, Mark Parsons, Reynald Pedros, Alen Stajcic, Asaka Takakura, Vadao, Jorge Vilda, Martina Voss-Tecklenburg and Sarina Wiegman.
