Congress To hold In Kwara, Ogun, Rivers As APC Debunks Rumour Over Suspension of Congresses
..Issues clarification on sales of nomination forms
The ruling All Progressives Congress APC has described statement that congresses in some states have been suspended as absolute fallacy and could only have happened in the imagination of the rumour peddler.
The secretary Caretaker/Convention planning committee of the APC Sen. John James Akpanudoedehe while answering questions from journalists after the issuance of the press statement debunking the sales of nomination forms for the forthcoming congresses, stated that congresses would hold in the 36 states, including Abuja simultaneously clarifying statements credited to Mai Mala Buni, Chairman of the national caretaker committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on suspension of congresses in any state are only products of imagination as the timetable for Congresses and the National Convention of the All Progressives Congress (APC) will be communicated accordingly.
"Our attention has just been drawn to obviously organized misinformation being circulated in some sections of the media on purported plans to suspend congresses in Ogun, Kwara Rivers and some states, this is the handiwork of fifth columnists and political jobbers parading themselves as media sources, he stated.
"Importantly I want to charge the media, urge our party members and indeed the general public to be wary and completely disregard this misinformation," he added.
Meanwhile, in a statement signed by Sen. John James Akpanudoedehe, the Secretary Caretaker/Convention planning committee, the party had clarified the misinformation on the purported sales of nomination forms.
"Our attention has been drawn to an unauthorized message asking members of the party wishing to contest for various posts in the forthcoming congresses to make payments for nomination forms through a bank account.
"Members of the party should disregard the message and avoid making payment into any bank account because the sales of the nomination forms has not commenced.
"This clarification has become necessary in order to ensure that no member of the party is duped in the name of making payments for nomination forms.
"The APC management will use the appropriate channels of communication to inform interested members when the sales of the forms will commence and provide authenticated bank account for making the required payment.
"The relevant security agencies have been alerted on the fraudulent request for payment and when those behind it are apprehended they would be prosecuted for financial crimes," the statement read.
