Kwara Comm. Tasks Traditional Leaders On Clean Kwara Initiatives


...She lauded the ingenuity of the Olusin of Ijara-Isin

The Kwara State Commissioner for Environment, Mrs Remilekun Oluwatobi Banigbe, has urged the traditional leaders across the State to support the clean Kwara initiative by ensuring their communities are clean at every given time.

Banigbe made this call during her visit to her hometown the ancient town of Ijara-Isin town over the weekend to partake in the community's weekly environmental sanitation exercise.

Kwararepoerters gathered that since the enthronement of the Olusin of Ijara-Isin, Oba Ajibola Ademola Julius, the Kabiesi has made it a compulsory for all youth of the town to come out and clean their surroundings every Saturday of the week.

A statement by the Special Assistant to the Commissioner on Media and Publicity, Mr. Opeyemi Adeoti, disclosed that premised on the forgoing, the commissioner was home at the weekend to participate and also see ways she could improve on the exercise.

The environmental exercise which was led by the Olusin and Hon. Banigbe witnessed a massive turnout of indigenes and residents coming out to evacuate dirt in their vicinity and disposing appropriately.


Speaking with journalists after the exercise, Banigbe noted that, as the commissioner in charge of the state Ministry of Environment, it is imperative to ensure her home town is free from dirt and shanties.

The Commissioner affirmed that, her efforts in ensuring and maintaining a clean Kwara will never be limited to Ilorin, the state capital, but would rather be extended to all nooks and crannies of the state for a clean and tidy environment.

She said Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has done so much for all communities in the state to be neat and tidy, appealing to all and sundry to key into the Governor’s agenda for a clean Kwara.

She however lauded the ingenuity of the Olusin of Ijara-Isin, Oba Ajibola Ademola Julius for complementing the effort of the Governor to have put measures in place for a clean community even before she was appointed as the Commissioner.

She advised other traditional rulers in the state to also draw out plans to ensure their communities are clean at every given time.
