The YPP House of Reps candidate for the Irepodun/Isin/Ekiti/Oke-Ero Federal Constituency, Charles Olufemi Folayan has discussed his plans to fight poverty and unemployment in his constituency when elected.
Presenting his manifesto to the Irepodun Local Government YPP stakeholders at Omu-Aran yesterday 28th October, 2022 Asoju Odo who expressed disappointment in the political leadership of the constituency noted that the situation of the youth and women demand a prudent leader with empathy, who prioritizes the welfare of the people above self interest.
“Year after year, the unending expectations of our people have been dashed by the crop of insensitive political officials we elected and rather than prioritise the wellbeing of the people they were elected by, they have chosen instead to arrogate power, influence and resources to themselves, indulging in luxurious spendings on properties, ostentatious lifestyles, flamboyant displays at social events while leaving the people deprived of the opportunities and benefits that should have accrued to them.
“The people can no longer continue to endure the hardship brought upon them by reckless political leaders, they can no longer continue to condone the shameful situation and this is why we have resolved to enthrone leader with empathy that would rescue the situation and guarantee the delivery of the dividends of democracy to the people at the grassroots.
“My aspiration is propelled by my desire to actualise the perennial yearnings of the people of my constituency and the demand by the youth and women that I be the face of our struggle for political and economic liberation.
“I do not merely aspire to advance myself, but I do so for the benefit of this generation and the generations to come. My decision to run is to help my people find cohesion where chaos existed and prosperity where all they have known is poverty.
“My Agenda is predicated on the need to reignite, rebuild and restore hope, make a difference in the lives of the women, children and youth of this constituency and reimagine the well-worn approach to empowerment such that it can become more impactful and sustainable to the people.
Folayan added that the 2023 general elections must reflect the wish of the people against all odds.
