• Governor approved variation and contract sum increase by ₦ 52,647,444
• Governor approved 86% payment for job 55% completed
We are in possession of the contract documents for the re-construction of Adeta roundabout – Pataka roundabout road in Ilorin West LGA of Kwara State.
The contract of the project was awarded on 31st January 2022 to Casarez Construction Ltd at an initial sum of Two Hundred and Forty-One Million, Four Hundred and Thirty-Seven Thousand, Six Hundred and Ten naira (₦ 241,437,610).
On 21st November, 2022, Governor AbdulRahman received a request from the Commissioner for Works, Engr. Suleiman Rotimi Iliasu, to approve a variation of the contract sum to the tune of Fifty Two Million, Six Hundred and Forty-Seven Thousand, Four Hundred and Forty-Four naira (₦ 52,647,444).
The Governor approved this request for upward review of contract sum on the same date (21st November 2022). Thus, the revised contract sum increased to Two Hundred and Ninety-Four Million, Eighty-Five Thousand, Fifty-Four naira (₦ 294,085,054), effective from that date.
Two days after the upward review of the contract sum (on 23rd November, 2022), the Governor also received another request from the Commissioner to approve another tranche of payment of One Hundred and Five Million naira (₦ 105,000,000) to the contractor. The Governor approved this request on the same date.
Thus, as of 23rd November, 2022, the Governor has already approve a total sum of Two Hundred and Fifty-Two Million, Eight Hundred Thousand, One Hundred and Ninety-Eight naira (₦ 252,800,198) for payment to the contractor, even though the contractor has done the work of only 55% as at the time of approval, as indicated by the Ministry.
ENetSuD will soon carryout an audit of this project to determine if the contract sum of ₦ 294 million approved for the project commensurate with the work done on the site by the contractor.
