Foreigners Now Think For Us And Foot Govt Bills While Abdulrahman Fixed Kwara Fund In Secret Banks - Kwara PDP Reacts To BUA Project
...Says Kwarans now resorted to alms-begging to build hospitals, roads, schools
The peoples Democratic party, PDP in kwara state has berated the recent foundation laying of N2.5bn worth of oncology and research project by Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, noting that the Governor now feels comfortable when non kwarans think for him about capital projects that is befitting the state; fund those projects while billions of fund belonging to the state are being fixed in several unknown banks
The party knocks the Governor for failure to lay the foundation of any government sponsored project since almost five years of his administration but have turned the state into depot of Alms-begging where individual donors now funding capital projects than the government and he keeps fixing undisclosed billions of Taxpayer’s money in secret banks while the house of Assmbly keeps mum.
In a statement by the state publicity secretary, Sholyment Olusegun Olusola Adewara, the party while commending Abdul Samad Rabiu Africa Initiative (ASR Africa) , a subsidiary of BUA group for conceiving such idea and donating the N2.5b Oncology Centre for the state also laud the siting of the project in an already established international Diagnostic centre built by the PDP's administration as part of the Saraki's vision to put Kwara on the world's map in term of efficiency healthcare delivery.
The party described BUA group decision as that which is consistent with Kwara people, who have long given up on Abdulrahman government and have resorted to self help in building hospitals, schools, repairing roads , building drainages and undertake government owned projects across the state through alms-begging and philanthropic donations .
As a party, we praise Abdul Samad Rabiu Africa Initiative (ASR Africa) , a subsidiary of BUA group for this wonderful innovation and investment in the state . This indeed is consistent with the decisions of most Kwarans who have lost hope in Abdulrahman government and have resorted to seeking alms and donations to help build community health centres ,procure ambulances, build schools, road repair and undertake government projects. Since 2019 , Abdulrahman has not showcased himself where he was laying foundation of any government funded project despite the huge financial inflow to the state .
It is quite regrettable that Kwara state , where other states borrowed ideas from in the past has suddenly become a "BAMBIALLAH" depot where government now resort to alms-begging to sponsor major projects for citizens . What they are doing with humongous cash inflow to the state remains subject of debate to every kwarans as governance had taken flight since 2019.
Kwarans will recall that sometime in May, 2021, Kwara state government, through the ministry of Health had to officially write some members of the Pharmaceutical society to donate drugs to state government to enable it carries out her statutory obligations.
As if that embarrassment was not enough, in June of same year, Ilorin west LG, acting on the directive of Governor Abdulrahman, caused a letter of financial assistance to be written to some business owners and other citizens to undertake ordinary enumeration area demarcation (EAD) within the council, an incidence that attracted national outrage and condemnation .
It should be noted that since then , Kwarans have taken their minds off from expecting any reasonable things from the APC-led government. Everybody has gone back to seek help from individual while some communities engage in crowdfunding online to build primary health centres , schools and fix their bad roads .
Last year , the Offa Metropolitan Club (OMC) observed the deplorable state of government hospital in the town and embarked on self funding to build a N350million worth of Hospital furnished with modern equipments for the use of the people. The people of Balogun Fulani Community in Ilorin south have done same just of recent . At present , the Igosun, Omu-aran, Arandun , Iwo Ayedun people are still donating to repair their primary healthcare centres as well as building classrooms from their children basic education.
Reports are also available on social media where youths of various communities were seeing repairing roads themselves . People now donate money to buy cement, granites etc for road repairs after they've all lost hope in the government .
While we agree that government alone cannot be left to state building, all hands including that of private sector and individuals must be on deck to fastrack development of the state, we condemn in strong term the absolute neglect of government responsibility by the Abdulrazaq's government while institutionalising alms-begging while state fund is being fixed in secret banks.
It's therefore shameful for Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq to go cap in hand begging BUA group to help him build health facility that the state has financial capacity to shoulder. More worrisome is the fact that billions of money belonging to Kwara are being fixed in unknown banks with government not channeling these fund to sustainable projects that could enhance better standards of living for the people .
