Four Inmates In Kwara Command Achieve Excellent NABTEB Exam Results

Under the leadership of CC OYUN Adeyinka Adebayo and the Welfare Section of the Old Ilorin Custodial Centre, Oke kura, Ilorin, in Kwara State, the Nigerian Correctional Service Kwara State Command has achieved a significant milestone in its mission to secure, reform, rehabilitate, and reintegrate offenders into society. Four inmates of the Custodial Centre sat for the National Business and Technical Examination Board (NABTEB EXAMS) and all achieved outstanding results with credits and distinctions in both Mathematics and English.

This was stated on Friday by the Correctional Service Kwara State Command Public Relations Officer, SC Adegbulugbe Philip Olumide (anipr).

Bello Chiroma, a Fulani by tribe, expressed his excitement at being the first person in his family to sit for such a national examination. He expressed his desire to study Islamic Law at the National Open University, provided he could secure a sponsor. His colleague, Umar Abdulbaki, intends to become a prominent Islamic scholar, a Hafiz, and study Islamic Education at the National Open University. Both inmates applauded the Nigerian Correctional Service Kwara State Command, particularly the Welfare Section, and encouraged other inmates to follow in their footsteps.

The Controller of Corrections Kwara State Command presented the NABTEB certificates to the successful inmates in his office, marking them as the first set of inmates to bring such glory to the Command in Ilorin, Kwara State. He thanked the Welfare Section of the Custodial Centre for their exceptional work and called on well-meaning Nigerians to sponsor the inmates for their higher educational advancement. The Controller also urged other inmates to follow in the footsteps of their successful peers and strive to improve themselves for a better future.

The success of these inmates is a testament to the quality of support and guidance provided by the Nigerian Correctional Service Kwara State Command. It is a significant achievement and a step forward in fulfilling the vision of the Controller General of Corrections Haliru Nababa FICMC MFR mni to create a credible correctional service that secures, reforms, rehabilitates, and reintegrates offenders into society as better citizens. The NABTEB results present an opportunity for these inmates to enjoy the respect and appreciation that comes from being productive members of society, and we wish them all the best moving forward.
