Kwara Police Release Sisters Of FMC Employee

Following PUNCH’s report, the Kwara State Police Command has released the detained sisters of an employee of Federal Medical Centre, Abeokuta, Ogun State, Lateef Iyanda, who was linked with a fraudulent bank transaction.
It was reported on Friday, October 27, that Iyanda accused the Kwara State Police Command of negligence in conducting a thorough investigation into a fraud case linked to him.
He alleged that he was arrested on August 29 at the Adatan area of Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, by some policemen who he said took him to a police station in Ilorin, Kwara State, where he was informed that a fraudulent transaction had occurred on his Palmpay account.
Speaking with City Round, Iyanda confirmed that her sisters were released following an invitation by the Ogun State Police Command.
“I was called today to come to the office of the PPRO, Ogun State at Eleweran. When I got there, the PPRO called the officer in charge of the case in Ilorin and after they spoke, I was informed that my sisters had been released.
“The PPRO also advised that I submit a petition to the IG which I have done and she assured me that all the money collected from me will be refunded.
“I want to sincerely appreciate the effort of Punch Newspaper because I’ve been traumatised since the whole issue began and when the police also went to detain my sisters. Thank you Punch for standing by me,” Iyanda said.
The Kwara State Police Public Relations Officer, Ajayi Okasanmi, has earlier said he was not aware of the case.
“I am not aware of the case you are talking about; you may ask him to come to my office to lay his complaint, and we will investigate,” Okasanmi said.
