Police Arrest Multiple Suspects In Ilorin for Armed Robbery, Cult Activities, And Homicide


The Kwara State Police Command has arrested multiple suspects for their involvement in violent crimes. 

The arrest was reported during a press briefing by the Nigerian Police Force on October 18th, 2023. The suspects were taken into custody for their involvement in a series of robberies and violent crimes in the Ilorin area. 

Biodun Abolade, in the company of two accomplices, was arrested on October 15th, 2023, by the police on a stop-and-search operation along Eiyenkorin / Ogbomoso Highway. The suspects were identified as members of a robbery syndicate specializing in stealing vehicles, phones, jewelries, and other valuables. Items recovered from their possession include two battle axes, cell phones of different brands, wristwatches, bottled wine, among other items.

Furthermore, two infamous armed robbery suspects, Jamiu Idowu Aje and Shittu Sherif, were nabbed by the command's Anti-Robbery Team on allegations of criminal conspiracy, illegal possession of fire-arms, and being members of secret societies under investigation. An English-made double-barrel gun, an expended cartridge, and an unregistered Jincheng Motorcycle were seized from the suspects, and they were linked to the killing of Afeez Babatunde and snatching three motorcycles during a gang fight between rival cultists.

Also, the police arrested three suspects for illegal possession of firearms and their involvement in secret cult activities. One of the suspects, Tunde Olarewaju Usman, confessed to being responsible for the killings of three members of Eiye Cult. The other two, Ahmed Umar and Kudus Ajao Okin, were linked to buying two guns, two axes, and two cutlasses for their cult group.

Lastly, two suspects identified as Azeez Shola Lawal and Ismail Musa were arrested for homicide and other charges related to the shooting death of a 15-year-old girl in Oja-Oba roundabout in October 15th, 2021. The suspects confessed to their involvement in the crime.

All suspects have confessed to their crimes, and the Nigerian Police Force has promised to prosecute them according to the law. The police urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities as they remain committed to maintaining law and order.
