Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin has appointed Kwara-born Ambali Adebayo as his senior legislative aide.
Adebayo’s appointment was contained in a letter dated November 20 and endorsed by the secretary of the National Assembly, Birma Maina.
“Your appointment is at the pleasure of the Deputy President of the Senate, Federal Republic of Nigeria,” the appointment letter read.
Adebayo, a grassroots politician from Ilorin West Local Government Area was before the recent appointment the Director General of the Saliu Mustapha Foundation, a non-profit chaired by Senator Saliu Mustapha.
According to sources familiar with the development, the appointment was facilitated by Senator Mustapha, who is representing Kwara Central in the red chambers.
Mustapha is entitled to four statutory aides for his tenure at the National Assembly.
It would be recalled that the lawmaker had, shortly after his election, appointed self-funded legislative aides across the 52 wards in his district.
At a recent meeting with the newly appointed aides, he told them that the essence of their appointments is to enhance his performance as a senator and also keep the flag of the All Progressive Congress (APC) flying under the leadership of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq
