Christopher Obianefo Igbokwe, a resident of Okpunoeze Uruagu, Nnewi, Anambra State, has been subjected to a horrific acid attack by unidentified individuals.
The incident, which occurred recently, has left Mr. Igbokwe in excruciating pain and distress.
The victim, known to be a relative of Chief Joe Igbokwe, the Special Adviser on Drainage and Water Resources to Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, suffered severe injuries as the attackers specifically targeted his face with the acid.
A video circulating on social media displays the extent of the damage, revealing that Mr. Igbokwe has lost his eyesight due to the attack.
He is currently receiving treatment at the Nnewi Diocesan Hospital, Akwudo, in Otolo Nnewi, where medical professionals are attending to him amid his unbearable agony.
Details surrounding the assault remain unclear, but reports suggest that the attack took place on Friday evening, allegedly orchestrated by Mr. Igbokwe’s step-siblings, who are now on the run.
Efforts to contact the Anambra State Police Command’s spokesperson, DSP Ikenga Tochukwu, for comment on the matter were unsuccessful as calls and messages went unanswered.
The State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Awka is reportedly handling the case, aiming to apprehend the culprits responsible for this brutal act. The community and concerned individuals await further developments as investigations continue into this distressing incident.
