Kwara YOWICAN Launches Youth Empowerment Scheme for Underprivileged Students

The Youth Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria (YOWICAN), Kwara State Chapter, has launched the third phase of its Youth Empowerment Scheme (YES), dedicated to supporting financially disadvantaged students in higher education institutions. Against the backdrop of Nigeria’s economic challenges, this initiative highlights YOWICAN’s commitment to empowering young people and easing the educational burden on 20 selected students.

Through the scheme, each recipient has received ₦40,000 in tuition support, allowing them to focus on their studies without the interruption of financial hardship. Beneficiaries from the University of Ilorin, Kwara State University, Kwara State Polytechnic, Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, and Ado Ekiti University represent a diverse segment of students within the region.

The disbursement ceremony was held at 1st ECWA Church, Taiwo Isale, Ilorin, and attended by YOWICAN executives, bloc leaders, and local government representatives. Two beneficiaries spoke during the event, expressing gratitude to YOWICAN for the support, which they said provides much-needed relief for their families.

Evangelist Stephen Awoyale, Chairman of YOWICAN Kwara State, emphasized the program’s purpose, urging students to use the funds exclusively for academic expenses. He reiterated YOWICAN’s dedication to supporting young people in achieving their educational ambitions.
