Indian Police Nab Notorious Nigerian Drug Lord In Bangalore

The police in India on Tuesday arrested William Joseph, alleged leader of a notorious drug cartel based in Bengaluru, where he ran points on smuggling and distributing methamphetamine across India.

His arrest marks a significant breakthrough for law enforcement in curbing the city’s meth trade.

Mr Joseph, a Nigerian, was arrested based on intel supplied by two drug suspects in police custody. They provided key details that led the law enforcement agents to the methamphetamine lab and identified Mr Joseph as their ring leader.

The suspect was a notorious drug lord who the Indian police had been tracking for long. Intel obtained from informants Rajesh Kumar and Sai Balaji proved useful in arresting the drug baron who had constantly escaped arrest.

Mr Joseph’s arrest rounds off the number of Bengaluru-based drug peddlers to 10. He was arrested in Bengaluru but was taken to Chennai where investigators were working to bring him to book.

Similarly, the Dominican Republic arrested Nigerian drug smugglers scheduled to depart to Paris having ingested 150 bags of cocaine.

An X-ray scan found foreign substances in the bodies of the suspects.

The Nigerian suspects were then taken to a medical facility where healthcare professionals initiated procedures to extract the substances.

The suspects, having undergone the procedures, excreted 150 bags of foreign substance believed to be cocaine, a contraband narcotic.

The Island authorities already detained them for trial and launched an investigation to identify their accomplices and other persons who might be connected to the cartel.
