The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has disclosed that 32,518 Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) are awaiting collection in Kwara State, expressing concern over the low turnout of eligible voters.

The Head of the Public Affairs and Protocol Unit of INEC in Kwara State, AbdulKadir Ibrahim, disclosed this on Tuesday in an interview with Western Post.

Ibrahim explained that the available PVCs were those issued following voter transfers, card replacements, updates to personal information and reviews conducted in 2025 and previous voter registration exercises.

He clarified that PVCs for newly registered voters were not yet ready for collection.

He added that the collection exercise was taking place alongside the display of the National Register of Voters at Registration Area Centres, commonly known as ward centres, across the state’s 193 wards.

According to him, the exercise commenced on Friday, October 9, and was scheduled to end on Thursday, October 15, with activities running daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The INEC official further disclosed that the available PVCs would be transferred from the ward-level centres to 16 designated collection centres at local government offices from Thursday.

He urged eligible voters who were yet to collect their cards to take advantage of the ongoing exercise, noting that the ward centres offered residents easier access to their PVCs within their communities.

Ibrahim acknowledged the low turnout recorded so far and appealed to eligible voters to collect their cards before the exercise ended.
