The Kano State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of 11 students from Government Boarding Secondary School, Bichi, in connection with the suspected murder of two fellow students.

It was earlier reported the gruesome killing of Hamza Tofawa and Umar Dungurawa, who were allegedly attacked by their schoolmates with sharp local metal objects known as “Gwale-Gwale.”

Following widespread outrage over the incident, the Kano State Commissioner of Education, Ali Makoda, on Wednesday, ordered a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding the deaths.

Providing an update on the investigation on Thursday, the spokesperson for the command, Abdullahi Haruna, said the 11 arrested students were currently undergoing interrogation.

He urged students not to misuse their privileges and take the law into their own hands.

Abdullahi also stressed that the state government was determined to get to the bottom of the case.
