The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has terminated the appointment of a staff member found to have extorted candidates.
The Board disclosed this in its latest bulletin, saying its fight against fraud and misconduct extends to its employees.
JAMB warned that any staff member found exploiting candidates or abusing their position would face disciplinary action, regardless of rank.
It stressed that employees involved in misconduct would not be protected.
The Board said its zero-tolerance policy on corruption applies both within and outside the organisation as it works to protect the integrity of its examination and admission processes.
JAMB conducts the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), which serves as a major requirement for admission into universities, polytechnics, colleges of education and other tertiary institutions in Nigeria.
The Board has in recent years warned candidates and the public against individuals who demand money in exchange for examination-related assistance, admission placements or other services.
It has also urged candidates to use only its official channels for registration and other admission-related processes to avoid falling victim to fraudsters.
JAMB said the termination of the staff member’s appointment demonstrates that disciplinary measures would also apply to personnel found violating the Board’s rules.
