Engr. Nurudeen Adeyemi Balogun, founder of ENACT, has commended Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his administration’s investments in security, economic development and infrastructure.
Balogun said the government’s development agenda recognises the critical relationship between security, economic opportunities and infrastructure in improving the welfare of residents across the state.
He noted that the administration’s support for security agencies, community protection initiatives and inter-agency collaboration demonstrates a commitment to protecting lives, safeguarding livelihoods and strengthening public confidence.
One notable intervention, he said, was the recent presentation of 25 additional Toyota Hilux vehicles to the Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Police Force as part of a broader plan to provide approximately 100 vehicles to security agencies.
According to him, the initiative is expected to improve operational mobility, expand patrol coverage and enhance responses to security threats, particularly in hard-to-reach communities.
The ENACT founder also acknowledged the administration’s support for forest guards, community-based security structures and joint security operations, including Operation Harmony, alongside collaboration with federal security institutions.
He further commended the government’s financial assistance to the families of fallen forest guards, vigilantes and community fighters, describing the gesture as recognition of the sacrifices made by those who risk their lives to protect communities.
“Security is fundamental to development. When people feel safe, farmers can access their fields, businesses can operate, investors can commit resources and communities can pursue economic opportunities,” Balogun said.
He added that AbdulRazaq deserved commendation for strengthening the operational capacity of security agencies while promoting a coordinated response to the state’s security challenges.
Economic Security Through Job Creation and Improved Livelihoods
Balogun emphasised that sustainable security must go hand in hand with economic empowerment, job creation and measures to ease the cost-of-living pressures facing households.
He noted that expanding access to employment, vocational and digital skills, entrepreneurship support and productive economic activities would improve livelihoods, strengthen community resilience and create opportunities for young people to build sustainable futures.
According to him, a safer environment also provides the foundation for businesses to grow, agricultural activities to expand and private-sector investments to generate employment across Kwara State.
He urged the government to sustain initiatives that support small businesses, boost local production, improve access to essential services and strengthen household purchasing power.
He stressed that the ultimate measure of economic progress should be its tangible impact on the everyday lives of citizens.
Infrastructure as a Driver of Security and Prosperity
The ENACT founder also commended the administration’s focus on infrastructure development, describing roads, bridges, electricity and other public facilities as essential drivers of economic growth and effective security operations.
He explained that improved road networks facilitate the movement of security personnel and emergency responders while connecting rural communities to markets, healthcare facilities, educational institutions and other essential services.
According to him, better infrastructure also reduces barriers to trade, strengthens agricultural value chains and makes communities more attractive to investors.
Balogun maintained that security and infrastructure complement each other, noting that safer communities encourage investment, while improved connectivity enables security agencies to operate more effectively and residents to access economic opportunities.
He stressed the need to sustain infrastructure development across Kwara State’s three senatorial districts to ensure that the benefits of government investment extend to both urban centres and rural communities.
Balogun Calls for Collective Responsibility
Balogun called for sustained collaboration among government institutions, security agencies, traditional rulers, community leaders, businesses and residents to consolidate the state’s security and development gains.
He also emphasised the importance of monitoring security interventions, ensuring the responsible use of public resources and regularly assessing their impact on the safety and welfare of residents.
The ENACT founder urged citizens to support security agencies by providing credible and timely information, noting that community participation remains essential to preventing crime and maintaining peace.
“Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s investments in security should be seen as part of a broader effort to build a Kwara where people can live without fear, businesses can thrive, young people can access opportunities and communities can benefit from sustainable infrastructure,” he said.
“The priority must be to sustain these investments and translate them into measurable improvements in the lives of our people. A secure and economically resilient Kwara is better positioned to attract investment, create jobs and achieve lasting prosperity.”
Balogun reaffirmed ENACT’s commitment to promoting innovation, youth empowerment and community development.
He expressed optimism that stronger collaboration among government, the private sector and local communities would contribute to a safer, more inclusive and prosperous Kwara State.
