Campaign posters promoting Barr. Akogun Iyiola Oyedepo’s senatorial ambition have flooded streets across Kwara South, drawing attention to his bid to represent the district in the Senate in the 2027 general elections.
The posters, carrying the slogan “Oyato 2027” and the tagline “Senator to Yato,” identify Oyedepo as the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate for the Kwara South senatorial district.
The campaign materials highlight “Competent Leadership,” “People Oriented” representation and “Sustainable Development,” alongside the message, “Experience. Integrity. Service.”
Oyedepo, who hails from Isin Local Government Area of Kwara State, is seeking to secure the mandate to represent the district at the National Assembly.
His campaign message places emphasis on leadership, public service and development as political activities gradually gather momentum ahead of the 2027 elections.
The ADC has also named Hon. Risikat Abdullahi as its senatorial candidate for Kwara Central and Malam Taoheed Usman for Kwara North.
Oyedepo previously expressed interest in contesting for the Kwara South Senate seat in 2022, when he was a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Meanwhile, the Kwara South senatorial contest is expected to feature discussions around infrastructure, youth employment, agriculture, education, security and effective representation.
The district also has an ongoing conversation around its informal zoning arrangement among the Igbomina, Ekiti and Ibolo blocs, with traditional rulers maintaining that it is the turn of the Igbomina bloc to produce the next senator.
As the 2027 elections approach, the emergence of campaign posters across Kwara South signals the growing visibility of Oyedepo’s senatorial ambition.
