An Edo State High Court sitting in Benin City has sentenced four men to death for offences including kidnapping, cultism and other violent crimes.
The Special Criminal Court, presided over by Justice Terry Momodu Aigbona, handed down the sentences after delivering a judgment that lasted more than three hours.
The court convicted 32-year-old Isaac Marvellous, described in the case as the gang leader, on all 11 counts brought against him and sentenced him accordingly.

Three other convicts — Wisdom Michael, 36; Rufus Michael, 30; and Gift Raphael, 27 — were also sentenced to death following their conviction on the charges.
The 11-count charge bordered on kidnapping, membership of a secret cult and other violent offences.
Justice Aigbona ordered that the death sentences be carried out by hanging or lethal injection, in accordance with the applicable law.
The court also imposed various terms of imprisonment on other defendants involved in the case.
In addition, firearms recovered during the investigation and tendered as exhibits were ordered to be handed over to the Federal Government.
The judgment brings to a close the prosecution of the defendants over the offences contained in the 11-count charge.
